Well, according to a lot of research on goal setting, part of the problem is that we wait till one day in the entire year to set all of our goals. It becomes overwhelming for us and instead of achieving more, we achieve far less.
The solution to this is simple. Use the new year to set only one or two new goals. In fact, as a motivational college speaker, I teach my audiences to only ever have a few key goals at a time. When we have too many goals, we lose focus and become scattered.
So, for this new year, answer just this question: What is that one thing that, if you could achieve, you would be so insanely and unbelievably psyched? Now, focus on that and don’t come up with 8 more goals. Just that one, maybe two, but definitely no more than two.
Now, it’s time to gameplan how you are going to achieve that. Remember, every journey, no matter how small or big, starts with a first step. So, take that first step today!
