Among psychologists and experts in the motivation field, there is a lot of debate over the most effective ways to get motivated. My research and experience shows me that there really is no one way to be motivated. That’s why I’m going to share with you three options that I’ve found are most effective. Use one or use all three—the more the better!
1. Be Motivated by Possibilities
Imagine that you have a magic wand. What would your life look like if anything were possible?
We usually limit ourselves by worrying about what’s realistically possible or not. Forget that! Just imagine anything is possible.
Take a minute to think about all the possibilities, and then write down your magic wand scenario.
2. Be Motivated by Love
Think about the people in your life who you live for. Let them be your motivation.
We will do way more for those we love than we will for ourselves. So achieve your goals for those you love!
Come up with a short list of people you love so much, you’d do anything for them. Make them your motivation.
3. Be Motivated by Pain
Think about what life will be like in 10 years if you do not make any changes right now.
Sometimes pain motivates us more than pleasure – use that to your advantage.
Think about all the pain that will come if you don’t take action toward what you want.
