“I run to see who has the most guts.” –Pre
You might have heard of a guy named Steve Prefontaine or “Pre.” He was one of the absolute best mid-distance runners of his time—he was also a really cool guy with his bad-boy rebellious image. He would win races left and right—truly one of the best.
But Pre was also known to get so nervous before a race that he would actually vomit. Can you relate? Have you ever been so nervous about something that you felt nauseous? I know I have.
But, when something makes you so nervous that your stomach rebels and you are successful, you feel absolutely unstoppable. There is no better feeling than to accomplish something that once scared you. Those scary things, I’ve found, are what make the most compelling goals. So rather than hide from the things that make you most nervous, move toward them! This exercise will require you to really be brave, but it will also be insanely rewarding to get on paper.
What are two or three possible goals that excite you so much that they make you nauseous?
Write them out on a piece of paper or in the section below, and don’t judge them. Just let them fly onto the paper.
